The educational community in Ecuador’s Zone 3 has marked the 120th anniversary of the birth of Pablo Palacio, a prominent figure in Ecuadorian literature. Palacio, born on January 25, 1906, in Loja, is recognized for his innovative and critical approach that set him apart from traditional literary trends of his time.
Educational institutions, libraries, and literary groups organized cultural and educational activities to encourage engagement with Palacio’s work among students and teachers. These initiatives included reading sessions, creative writing workshops, exhibitions, and talks focusing on works such as “Un hombre muerto a puntapiés” and “Débora.”
Olger Mariño, coordinator of Zone 3, said: “These actions reinforce reading habits and promote the proper use of free time, generating opportunities for new generations to connect with Ecuadorian literature.”
Student Alex Suárez added: “We remember Pablo Palacio, whose voice endures in history through his works. In our classrooms, reading is strengthened and comes alive every day.”
The Ministry of Education reaffirmed its commitment to promoting reading and critical thinking through this commemoration. The event aimed to highlight the cultural legacy left by writers like Pablo Palacio.
