The Servicio de Rentas Internas (SRI) has announced that vehicle tax services will be temporarily suspended from January 1 to January 7, 2026. This suspension is due to system configuration and updates required for the collection of vehicle taxes for the 2026 fiscal period.

According to SRI, services and procedures related to these taxes will resume on January 8, 2026, across all service channels: in-person offices, electronic platforms, and partner financial institutions.

“This measure also applies to payments corresponding to the Annual Motor Vehicle Property Tax and the 1% tax on the purchase of used vehicles as well as ANT and SPPAT fees collected under agreements with those entities,” stated SRI.

Until December 31, 2025, taxpayers can continue to process vehicle-related transactions in person at SRI service centers nationwide or submit documents through physical windows at the Secretariat or electronically via the “Procedures and notifications” option on the SRI en Línea portal at www.sri.gob.ec.

Available procedures include creating new vehicle subcategories, contract reversals, updating vehicle characteristics, exemptions, among others.
