Unidad Educativa Mejía held a civic event on April 6 aimed at strengthening cultural identity, historical memory, and knowledge of national heritage. The event included the participation of María José Moyano, Subsecretary of Education, Sports and Culture.

The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to encourage students’ understanding of Ecuador’s history and the value of its cultural heritage. Students took part in historical reenactments, cultural performances, and presentations related to Ecuadorian history and heritage. The importance of the National Museum as a space for memory, identity, and learning for new generations was also highlighted during the event.

Institutional authorities, teachers, and students attended the activity. Participants showcased elements representing the country’s history, biodiversity, and cultural heritage. The event promoted student learning as well as active participation in educational spaces.

During her remarks at the ceremony, Moyano said: “the importance of fostering in students knowledge about our country’s history, appreciation for our cultural heritage and strengthening national identity through educational and cultural activities within educational institutions.”

Such activities are organized in schools with the goal of reinforcing values education along with national identity and historical awareness among members of the school community.
