The Unidad Educativa Fiscomisional Sathya Sai, located in Sucre, received several awards at the fourth edition of the short film contest “El valor de hacerlo bien.” The event was organized by the Mesa Nacional de Educación en Valores and the Festival Intercolegial de Cine (FIC), with support from the Ministry of Education, Sports and Culture and the Prefecture of Guayas.
This year’s competition featured 67 short films created by students from 129 educational institutions across 41 cities and localities in Ecuador. The initiative aims to use audiovisual production as a teaching tool to promote values such as respect, responsibility, empathy, and coexistence. Through filmmaking, students addressed social issues, school experiences, and reflections on their surroundings.
Unidad Educativa Fiscomisional Sathya Sai received nominations in several categories from both the Mesa Nacional de Educación en Valores and FIC. The institution won Best Short Film for its entry titled “Juega Limpio,” earning medals, recognition certificates, and three tablets.
The school also received special mentions for Best Edu-Communicative TikTok Campaign with “Después del colegio ¿Qué?” and Best Documentary Short Film for “Raíces y Semillas.”
Within FIC’s six nomination categories for the school, it won the Premio a la Alegría. This award included an official festival trophy, two books, and financial support intended to strengthen future student projects.
The project was supported by Instituto Tecnológico Latinoamericano de Expresiones Artísticas-LEXA and Hostería Sainanda during its creative process.
With these achievements, Unidad Educativa Fiscomisional Sathya Sai continues its commitment to value-based education that incorporates art and cinema as tools for citizenship building.
