Tonicorp has announced the graduation of more than 200 community leaders in Bolívar as part of its ongoing program, “Community Leaders with a Focus on Nutrition and Productive Development.” The initiative, launched in 2021, aims to address the root causes of chronic child malnutrition and create real opportunities within local communities.
In partnership with World Vision Ecuador, Tonicorp trained 56 new leaders this year from the parishes of Julio Moreno, Simiatug, and Guanujo. With these graduates, the total number of trained individuals now stands at 212. These leaders are expected to share their knowledge and contribute to positive changes in their communities.
The training covered important topics such as nutrition, safe water consumption, financial education, and productive practices. As part of the program’s efforts to improve access to clean water, a chlorination system was installed in Julio Moreno. This installation adds to nine others already set up in the region and benefits over 5,000 people.
With support from more than 50 partners, Tonicorp reports that it has reached approximately 3,500 residents in Bolívar through its initiatives. The company stated it will continue working towards community development.
Juan Valarezo from World Vision Ecuador; Diana Marchán, Head of Sustainability at Tonicorp; Diana Rivera from Tonicorp’s sustainability team; Washington Meza from REDNI; and Janine Taco from Universidad Estatal de Bolívar were among those involved in supporting the project.
