More than 700 teachers from various educational institutions in Manabí participated in Google Day 2, a training event organized by Zone 4 of the Ministry of Education, Sport and Culture in Manta. The program is part of Ecuador’s national strategy for Digital Educational Transformation, which aims to strengthen teachers’ technology skills and promote an inclusive and modern education system.

The two-day event focused on integrating digital tools, pedagogical innovation, and new technologies into teaching practices. Teachers took part in practical sessions designed to help them use resources such as Google Workspace for Education Plus, a platform that supports the modernization of educational management and enhances digital skills among both teachers and students.

The initiative was held with support from CNT EP and Google. Training sessions addressed key topics including hybrid learning environments and strategies for peer-to-peer knowledge sharing among educators. These efforts aim to build collaborative educational communities equipped to face the challenges of the 21st century.

Carlos Nahim Mera, a teacher at Unidad Educativa Pedro Balda Cucalón, commented on the benefits: “La capacitación permitirá potenciar mis habilidades tecnológicas y fortalecer mi práctica pedagógica; estos aprendizajes se traducen directamente en beneficios para los estudiantes al mejorar los procesos educativos y las experiencias en el aula.”

Carlos Toala Soledispa, principal at Unidad Educativa Manta, also highlighted the importance of the training: “Participamos 17 docentes de nuestra institución y esta experiencia fortalece nuestras metodologías, permitiéndonos innovar en el aula y brindar mejores oportunidades de aprendizaje en todos los niveles educativos.”

Maximiliano Núñez Tomasselli, Zone 4 coordinator for Education, Sport and Culture, said during his remarks that such initiatives reinforce institutional commitment to innovation and narrowing the technology gap. He stated: “Nuestros docentes, como actores clave del proceso formativo, deben mantenerse permanentemente actualizados para responder a estos desafíos.”

The National Government reiterated its commitment to educational transformation through technology by ensuring that the educational community has access to secure and up-to-date tools aligned with international standards.
