The Superintendencia de Compañías, Valores y Seguros (SCVS) and the Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar (UASB) have entered into a cooperation agreement to promote joint academic and research activities. The agreement was signed on February 25, 2026, at the UASB’s Salón de Las Libertadoras in Quito by SCVS Superintendent Luis Cabezas-Klaere and UASB Rector César Montaño Galarza.

The main goal of this agreement is to establish a framework for collaborative work that will support technical analysis of sectors regulated by the SCVS and help develop solutions to national challenges. Key areas of collaboration include inter-institutional research projects focused on corporate matters, securities markets, and insurance. Findings from these studies are expected to be published in the institutional journal X-pedientes Económicos.

The partnership also plans for organizing seminars, workshops, professional development events, discussion forums, and exchanges of relevant statistical information. Both institutions will collaborate on sectoral analyses of mutual interest.

As part of the commitments outlined in the agreement, UASB may offer discounts on its graduate and continuing education programs to SCVS staff who meet certain requirements. In return, SCVS will promote UASB’s academic offerings among its employees nationwide and enhance financial education training for students and teachers.

During the signing event, Superintendent Luis Cabezas-Klaere stated: “Ongoing training of personnel is an important focus of my administration because it impacts the optimization of institutional processes.” He added: “This agreement contributes to that objective and the regulatory entity will contribute with its technical capacity for its implementation.”

By formalizing this partnership with a regionally recognized higher education institution, SCVS aims to strengthen ties between academia and regulatory functions. The collaboration seeks to support institutional development and technical progress in Ecuador.
