A total of 159 students from Ingapirca, Tahuantinsuyo, and 14 de Abril schools in Shushufindi, Sucumbíos, are seeing improvements to their educational facilities following a joint initiative by the Shushufindi Municipality and Zone 1 of the Ministry of Education, Sport and Culture.

The upgrades included maintenance of sanitary facilities, painting, installation of metal roofing, fencing, and classroom adaptations. The project had an investment of about USD 34,198. These efforts aim to provide safer and more suitable spaces for learning.

At the handover event, zonal coordinator Elvis Mendoza and Shushufindi mayor Lorena Cajas attended alongside students, teachers, and parents. Participants highlighted the importance of collaboration for the benefit of the school community.

“As a student at this institution I am honored to express our gratitude for this project, which represents a great benefit for our educational community. It reflects a commitment to education and student well-being,” said Génesis Angulo, student representative.

Elvis Mendoza emphasized the value of institutional cooperation: “When you work as a team you achieve results that strengthen the educational quality for children and adolescents. We appreciate the commitment of the Illustrious Municipality of Shushufindi to educational development in the canton.”

The Ministry reaffirmed its intention to continue actions that improve infrastructure and educational processes for students and teachers in the province.
