The Corporación Eléctrica del Ecuador (CELEC EP) has announced that it will conduct scheduled maintenance at the Yanacocha substation in Loja province on Saturday, December 20, 2025. The work is being carried out by CELEC’s Transelectric business unit.

According to CELEC EP, the maintenance will focus on stabilizing several components of the installation where temperature increases have been detected. These issues could potentially put the infrastructure at risk if not addressed. The Yanacocha substation supplies energy to Empresa Eléctrica Regional del Sur S.A. (EERSSA), which serves approximately 253,645 residents in the canton of Loja and Cumbaratza parish in Zamora Chinchipe.

The maintenance activities will require a temporary restriction of electric service between 4:00 and 6:00 a.m. in specific areas, including Loja province (canton Loja) and Zamora Chinchipe province (Cumbaratza parish in Zamora canton).

“CELEC EP thanks you for your understanding regarding any possible inconvenience,” stated the company.
