More than 2,000 students participated in the “Quito Education, Sports and Culture 2025” festival, an event organized to celebrate the 491st anniversary of Quito’s founding. The festival took place at the Benito Juárez Educational Unit coliseum in southern Quito.

The event featured a range of activities including dance performances, musical presentations, peace bands, baton twirlers, and demonstrations by technical high school students. Four main areas showcased student learning: culinary arts and hospitality services; automotive electromechanics and metal constructions; fashion design; and artistic expressions such as music, dance, poetry, and band performances.

Gilda Alcívar García, Minister of Education, Sports and Culture, said: “With this festival we reaffirm our commitment to promote an education that goes beyond classrooms, that promotes art and culture as fundamental pillars for transformation and comprehensive development of our students.”

The Ministry stated its intention to continue supporting initiatives that encourage inclusion, innovation, and excellence in Ecuador’s educational institutions.
