The Ministry of Environment and Energy (MAE) and the Corporación Eléctrica del Ecuador (CELEC EP) have signed an inter-institutional cooperation agreement with the Rural Parish Decentralized Autonomous Government of Cangahua. The agreement allocates USD 1.47 million for the recovery of greenhouses and flower plantations in Cangahua that were damaged by heavy rains on October 14, 2025. The funds aim to help more than 1,500 families cope with the economic and social impacts caused by this weather event.
The signing ceremony took place in front of over 1,000 residents from the parish’s 14 communities. Attendees included Antonio Jácome Pólit, General Manager of CELEC EP; Edwin Pilca, President of the Cangahua Parish Government; and Inés María Manzano, Minister of Environment and Energy, who participated as an honorary witness.
Minister Manzano emphasized the importance of collaboration between communities and the national government. “This management reflects the new face of public service and a government that listens, coordinates, and works hand in hand with communities. Cayambe reminds us that resilience is born from working together, technical knowledge, cooperation, and above all, hope,” she said.
Antonio Jácome Pólit added: “In the Government of El Nuevo Ecuador we work thinking first about the well-being of Ecuadorian families, promoting projects that strengthen agricultural and productive development, especially in areas where people live by effort, unity, and love for their land.”
This agreement is part of CELEC EP’s Community Relations Plan within its Environmental Management Plan for the Pomasqui–Jamondino I Transmission Line project. This infrastructure strengthens energy connectivity between Ecuador and Colombia.
Through this collaboration mechanism, MAE and CELEC EP reaffirm their commitment to sustainable development. They state that President Daniel Noboa’s administration fulfills its commitments to areas influenced by power generation plants and transmission systems according to national policies.
