The Unidad Educativa Pedro Moncayo N.º 82, located in Bajo de Afuera in Montecristi, has completed a series of infrastructure improvements. The upgrades were funded by an investment of $98,000 and included the renovation of classrooms, laboratories, and sanitary facilities. These enhancements benefit students from early childhood through seventh grade.
Renovation work covered seven pedagogical classrooms, two initial-level classrooms, one laboratory, and one administrative room. Additionally, a new sanitary block was constructed. Other improvements involved wall plastering, painting, maintenance of metal grilles, rainwater drainage channeling, floor replacement, ceramic tiling in affected classrooms, and specific adjustments for early education levels.
Maximiliano Núñez Tomaselli, Zonal Coordinator 4, commented on the significance of these changes: “Each renovated space is another opportunity for our children to learn with safety, comfort and joy. We continue working so that Montecristi has educational institutions that meet the aspirations of its students.”
Student Samir Lucas expressed gratitude for the upgraded learning environments: “We are happy because our classrooms now look nicer and more comfortable. Thank you for caring about our school and improving the places where we learn every day.”
Axel Burgos, principal of the institution, also emphasized the impact of these renovations. “This comprehensive maintenance strengthens pedagogical work and allows us to offer better conditions so that our teachers and students can carry out their activities with quality and safety.”
The Ministry of Education reaffirmed its commitment to investing in school infrastructure across Ecuador to ensure all children have access to safe learning spaces.
