The Ministry of Education, Sports and Culture is moving forward with its teacher selection process for General Basic Education (EGB) positions covering second to seventh grade. The process has reached the practical evaluation stage, where candidates demonstrate their teaching skills by conducting a demonstration class.
This initiative is part of a national policy aimed at recognizing teachers’ value, strengthening professional development, and ensuring that qualified candidates join the public education system. A total of 11,190 professionals registered for the competition. Out of these, 4,864 were selected as finalists and have advanced to the practical phase.
During this stage, each finalist delivers a 45-minute lesson related to their subject area. These sessions are recorded in full using Microsoft Teams to maintain transparency throughout the process.
After completing their demonstration class, candidates participate in an in-person interview lasting up to 15 minutes. The interview evaluates curriculum knowledge, teaching strategies, lesson planning, and classroom management abilities. Practical evaluations are scheduled from February 23 to February 27, 2026.
A panel oversees this phase consisting of a school authority figure, a peer teacher, and a parent representative. This structure aims to ensure participation and shared responsibility in the assessment process. Scoring is out of 25 points: institutional authorities assign up to 12 points; peer teachers can award up to 10 points; parents or guardians contribute up to three points.
Candidates receive immediate notification of their results via email provided during registration. According to the official schedule, those wishing to request a review can do so between March 6 and March 12, 2026 through the same online platform.
“The Ministry of Education, Sports and Culture reminds that all procedures related to the Merit-Based Competition are free of charge and reaffirms its commitment to meritocracy, transparency and strengthening quality education for children across the country,” stated officials from the ministry.
