More than 35,000 students took part in educational sessions focused on the National Museum of Ecuador “Raíces para el Futuro,” according to a March 23 announcement. The activities were held in District 2 – Calderón and aimed to encourage learning and reflection on the country’s history and cultural heritage.
The initiative sought to bring children and adolescents closer to the value of national heritage. Organizers said it promoted recognition of roots, identity, and a sense of belonging as key elements in student development.
During these sessions, students engaged through exhibitions, presentations, and thematic poster creation. Organizers noted that these activities demonstrated creativity and an interest among participants to learn more about Ecuador’s cultural legacy.
The main event took place at Unidad Educativa Kitukara with María José Moyano, Undersecretary of Education, Sports and Culture. Moyano said it is important “to strengthen the bond between students and their history while projecting them toward the future.” Other schools across the district also joined by holding similar events within their own spaces.
According to organizers, the National Museum of Ecuador serves as a reference point for preserving historical memory while inspiring new generations “to build a country with greater awareness, respect, and pride for its origins.” The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment “to continue strengthening education and culture as essential pillars for Ecuador’s development.”
