The Ministry of Telecommunications and the Information Society (MINTEL) participated in a Social Brigade event organized by the Ministry of Human Development in the rural parish of Cerecita, Guayaquil. The event aimed to promote access to technology among local residents.

MINTEL contributed with an information stand as part of its Free Digital Points (PDG) project. During the event, people of all ages visited the stand to learn about using free internet access points, receive training, and get help with online procedures. The initiative is designed to encourage learning, facilitate engagement with technology, and provide new opportunities for community members.

According to MINTEL, “With its presence at these types of activities, MINTEL continues bringing the digital world closer to communities in Ecuador, promoting the use of technology as support for personal and collective growth.”

The Free Digital Points are described by MINTEL as “a key support to reduce the digital divide and promote that more citizens become active participants in the digital society.”

Social Brigades like this one take place weekly across different provinces in Ecuador. Their purpose is to extend government services and opportunities to more communities.

MINTEL stated that “Through these ongoing actions, MINTEL maintains its presence in the field and reinforces its commitment to bringing technology closer to citizens.”
