Mintel offers free digital services during social brigades in Santa Elena and Guayas

The Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Society (MINTEL) will participate this week in three Social Brigades for the New Ecuador, which are led by the Ministry of Human Development (MDH) in the provinces of Santa Elena and Guayas.

At these events, MINTEL will provide stands offering Free Digital Points (PDG), where it will inform attendees about services such as free internet access and in-person training. These initiatives aim to support learning, facilitate access to technology, and create new opportunities for children, youth, adults, and older people.

The first and third Social Brigades will take place in Santa Elena province. The first event is scheduled for Tuesday, February 3, 2026, in front of the Community House of Comuna Valdivia, Manglaralto Parish, Santa Elena canton from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The third event is set for Friday, February 6, 2026, at Barrio Panorama in La Libertad canton from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

The second brigade will be held on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at Cooperativa Trinidad de Dios in Monte Sinaí, Guayaquil canton in Guayas province. Services there will be available from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

According to the press release: “The National Government, with these Social Brigades, strengthens attention to citizens in the territory with health care, education, technology and other services offered by entities of the Executive Function to promote the effective enjoyment of rights for people who are part of priority attention groups.”

The ministry also announced that more brigades are planned across other provinces in coming weeks as part of its ongoing efforts to reduce the digital divide.
