The Ministry of Education, Sports and Culture has provided 74 projectors and 74 speakers to schools in the Celica–Pindal–Puyango district. This initiative is part of the National Program for Reducing the Digital Divide in the National Education System, with an investment of $33,760.
The event was attended by Favio Villamizar Sánchez, Zonal Coordinator 7 for Education, Sports and Culture; Alexandra Jara, Governor of Loja; as well as provincial and district authorities and representatives from the educational community.
Villamizar Sánchez explained that across Loja, El Oro, and Zamora Chinchipe provinces, a total of 334 projectors and 334 speakers are being distributed. The overall investment amounts to $152,377. He stated: “assuring that technology reaches each territory in a planned and equitable manner.”
Edis Lima, a teacher present at the event, said: “The technological equipment will help strengthen education in rural areas. We are keeping up with technological development in this new century. No government has cared about rural schools during my 27 years as a teacher.”
During the ceremony, documents were signed to begin maintenance and repair work on school infrastructure at four institutions in the district. The schools set to benefit include Juan Carlos Manzanillas School, Diego de Noboa School, Bracamoros School, and Unidad Educativa Pindal. Planned improvements cover classrooms, electrical systems, sanitary facilities, fencing, and sports areas with an estimated investment of $190,000.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to using technology as a pedagogical tool to support teaching practices and expand learning opportunities. “The Ministry of Education, Sports and Culture reiterates its commitment to work with an integrated vision that understands technology as a pedagogical tool that strengthens teaching practices, energizes classrooms and expands learning opportunities.”
