More than 4,000 students from 32 educational institutions in Saraguro, Loja province, have received sports kits through an initiative by the Ministry of Education, Sport and Culture. The investment for this project exceeded USD 6,200.

Favio Villamizar Sánchez, zonal coordinator for Minedec, said: “These kits contain soccer and basketball balls, cones, hurdles, flags and other equipment that, in your hands as students, become opportunities for comprehensive development, healthy coexistence and strengthening of values.”

Robert Ramón, principal of Unidad Educativa Virgilio Abarca in Urdaneta parish, commented: “This support will allow our children and young people to develop physically and recreationally—areas that are essential complements to the comprehensive formation of a human being.”

Ely Arteaga, president of the student council at the host institution, expressed gratitude for the Ministry’s support and stated that these items “will help promote sports among our classmates.”

Villamizar Sánchez also reiterated: “Our conviction is that investing in childhood and youth is ensuring the present and future of our country. We will continue providing the necessary tools so that your talent and discipline transform our society. We are convinced you are the driving force behind the heart of a new Ecuador.”
