Ministry opens bids for new bypass construction on Latacunga–Zumbahua–La Maná route

The Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport has announced the opening of the bidding process for a new road bypass on kilometer 63 of the Latacunga – Zumbahua – La Maná route in Cotopaxi province. The project aims to improve connectivity and road safety along this key corridor.

According to the ministry, “This process is carried out within the framework of the Emergency Resilient Reconstruction Project, financed through World Bank Loan No. 9555-EC, and contributes to strengthening road infrastructure in the province.”

The planned works will include construction of a new bypass approximately one kilometer long. The project scope covers paving, drainage systems, slope stabilization, road signage, and socio-environmental components designed to enhance traffic flow and operational conditions.

Bids will be accepted until March 24, 2026 at 14:00 at the Subsecretariat for Transport Infrastructure, located on the 17th floor of the ministry’s building in Quito. The bid opening is scheduled for March 24 at 14:15 in the ministry auditorium.
