Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport outlines actions in Cañar for 2025

The Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport reported on Apr. 27 the actions carried out in the province of Cañar as part of its 2025 accountability process, under the leadership of Minister Roberto Luque.

Franklin Vázquez, district director, said that more than USD 8 million was invested in projects for the province. The main project involved maintenance by results on the Biblián–Zhud–Angas, Zhud–Cochancay–El Triunfo, and La Troncal–Puerto Inca sections, which cover over 60 percent of the State Road Network in Cañar.

The ministry also created jobs for 29 workers from three road maintenance microenterprises. An inter-institutional agreement was signed to develop studies that will allow future road interventions along the old Panamericana route in Azogues and Biblián cantons. As a result of these efforts, more than 58 percent of the State Road Network in Cañar is now considered to be in good or excellent condition with safe pavement and signage.

In housing, El Nuevo Ecuador government built 39 homes benefiting 156 vulnerable people across Azogues, Biblián, and Déleg cantons. Through the Creamos Patrimonio program, ownership documents were legalized for 26 properties to strengthen legal security and expand opportunities for beneficiary families.

The Ministry confirmed its commitment to continue strengthening road infrastructure and social development with projects aimed at improving connectivity, safety, and well-being for citizens.
