The Ministry of Education, Sport and Culture Zone 7 delivered new sanitary and recreational infrastructure to the General Epiclachima Basic Education School in Zumbi parish, Centinela del Cóndor canton, on March 25. The project represents an investment of $46,000 and directly benefits 340 students from preschool through seventh grade.
The initiative aims to improve learning environments and ensure the well-being of the educational community. The construction included a complete sanitary facility with reinforced concrete structures, water systems that use rainwater, LED lighting, and high-quality finishes. A recreational area was also built with synthetic grass and modern playground equipment.
Favio Villamizar, Zone 7 Coordinator, said these actions are part of President Daniel Noboa Azín’s commitment to transforming education in Ecuador. “We want our girls and boys to feel comfortable and respected in their school environment because a dignified environment is the first step towards quality learning,” Villamizar said.
Ángel Efraín Lapo Robalino, educational leader at the institution, thanked those involved for making this long-awaited goal possible. “Thanks to agreements and teamwork, today we receive these spaces that are fundamental for our children in preschool,” Lapo Robalino said.
Students also participated in the event. Génesis Álvarez, president of the Student Council, spoke about her classmates’ happiness: “I am grateful for the bathrooms and games that will help us continue studying and improve our studies.” The Ministry says it remains committed to providing safe and motivating school environments where play and hygiene are recognized as fundamental rights.
