A series of activities aimed at improving educational conditions took place in El Carmen, focusing on expanding pedagogical and technological resources, inspecting infrastructure projects, and engaging with the school community.
At Carlos Vélez Verduga Educational Unit, computers, furniture, and teaching materials were provided to enhance learning environments. The investment amounts to approximately $100,000 and benefits over 1,400 students.
The resources delivered include 17 computers for the computer lab, 450 sets of school furniture, teaching materials for early education, 45 whiteboards, 45 desks with chairs for teachers, 29 computer tables, as well as cleaning supplies and other items to support institutional operations.
There was also a visit to Heriberto Rodríguez Educational Unit to check on the progress of ongoing infrastructure works. These projects involve building a perimeter wall, installing rainwater drainage systems, electrical maintenance, classroom improvements, upgrades to restroom facilities, and work on the septic tank. The investment for these improvements is $81,934 and aims to provide safer and more functional spaces.
Additionally, officials attended a special session marking the 55th anniversary of El Carmen Educational Unit. During this ceremony, recognition was given to teachers who have made significant contributions to student development and education in the canton.
Maximiliano Núñez Tomaselli, Zonal Coordinator for Education, Sports and Culture (Zone 4), emphasized the importance of this territorial agenda in identifying needs and strengthening educational services. “Each visit allows us to listen to the community and move forward with real solutions. Our commitment is to ensure that institutions have decent conditions so that students can learn, grow and develop fully,” he said.
These initiatives are part of an ongoing effort by authorities to improve infrastructure, provide better resources for schools, and support community processes that drive educational development in the region.
