The Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport (MIT) has extended the deadline for submitting bids to construct three new vehicular bridges in Sucumbíos province. The decision aims to encourage broader participation from construction companies and enhance the quality of proposals.

The project involves building bridges over the Shushufindi, La Norte, and Quilindaña rivers, including access roads. According to MIT, this is a key intervention intended to improve mobility, reduce travel times, and ensure safe infrastructure in a dynamic region of Ecuador’s Amazon.

The initiative is part of the Emergency Resilient Reconstruction Project, which is funded by the World Bank. The process will follow a National Bidding procedure with single-envelope submission under multilateral regulations. This approach is designed to guarantee transparency and equal opportunity in contracting.

Companies interested in participating must submit their offers by February 2, 2026 at 14:00 at the Ministry’s offices. Proposals will be publicly opened at 14:15 on the same day in the MIT auditorium located at Juan León Mera N26-220 and Av. Orellana in Quito. Offers must remain valid until May 3, 2026.

Official documents for this bidding process are available on the institutional portal https://www.mit.gob.ec/licitacion-de-obras-mtop/.

For inquiries regarding the process, interested parties can contact puentesSH@mit.gob.ec.

“The extension of the schedule provides an additional opportunity for national companies to submit strong, competitive proposals aligned with international standards,” said an MIT spokesperson.

The MIT states that these measures aim to ensure good practices throughout the selection process while advancing connectivity within Sucumbíos province.
