The Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport (MIT) has announced an extension for the deadline to submit bids for the rehabilitation of the Cuenca – Molleturo – El Empalme road. The new deadline is set for December 10, 2025, at 09:00.

This project, funded by the World Bank under Loan No. 9555-EC, aims to ensure continuity and safety along a key corridor connecting Ecuador’s Sierra and Coast regions. The plan includes rehabilitating 113 kilometers of roadway, addressing critical points, and improving road safety with a focus on water management, stability, and proper signage.

According to MIT, “The design incorporates engineering solutions aligned with international standards, maintaining a practical and competitive approach that facilitates participation from various bidders. The work will comply with environmental and social parameters suitable for sensitive areas crossed by this corridor.”

MIT also highlighted that confidentiality regarding the reference amount will be maintained in line with World Bank Procurement Regulations. The ministry stated: “The MIT reminds bidders and media outlets that, according to World Bank Procurement Regulations, disclosure of the reference amount is not permitted in procurement processes under this framework. This confidentiality ensures: • Free and fair competition among bidders. • Transparency of the process. • Best value for money for the Ecuadorian State.”

– Submission deadline: December 10, 2025, by 09:00
– Submission location: Juan León Mera N26-220 y Av. Orellana, 17th floor, Quito
