The Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Roberto Luque, visited the Chimborazo province to review progress on two major projects: the rehabilitation of the Balbanera – Pallatanga – Cumandá road and a social housing initiative in Pallatanga. Accompanied by Governor María José del Pozo, technical staff, and provincial authorities, Luque inspected ongoing work aimed at improving critical sections of the 106.69-kilometer roadway.

The road project, awarded to Consorcio Balbanera Cumandá, involves an investment exceeding USD 47 million. The scope includes sealing cracks, minor patching, addressing critical points, installing horizontal and vertical signage, slope stabilization, culvert installation, paving, and routine maintenance. Funding is provided by CAF (Development Bank of Latin America) under the Service Level Conservation Program. The works are expected to last 45 months and create approximately 180 direct jobs and 300 indirect jobs.

During his visit, Luque also toured the Pallatanga Housing Project. This initiative provides housing for 60 families with an investment of USD 1.5 million. The development consists of five blocks containing twelve apartments each and includes spaces for entrepreneurship activities, communal areas, and green spaces.

According to officials, these efforts aim to improve local connectivity and living conditions while supporting economic activity through job creation.
