The central avenues of Milagro, located in the province of Guayas, now have upgraded public lighting after 348 sodium streetlights were replaced with LED technology. This project was carried out by the Ministry of Environment and Energy and the Corporación Nacional de Electricidad (CNEL EP), benefiting over 57,000 residential and commercial customers.
The initiative required an investment exceeding USD 100,000 and covered García Moreno, Juan Montalvo, 5 de Junio, Malecón Esmeraldas streets, avenida Quito, Nuevo Milagro neighborhood, and surrounding areas. The new lighting aims to improve safety and enhance the urban environment in Milagro.
Inés Manzano, Minister of Environment and Energy, commented on the social impact: “President Daniel Noboa is concerned about the economic and social development of Guayas province, especially Milagro. This project strengthens electrical infrastructure and creates greater opportunities for citizens, especially those engaged in commercial activities.”
Ángel Erazo, general manager of CNEL EP, highlighted that this work coincides with Milagro’s 112th anniversary as a canton: “Access to efficient public lighting is a citizen’s right and our commitment is to bring it to all corners of our concession zones.”
So far this year in Milagro, maintenance has been performed on 2,500 streetlights and 600 sodium lamps have been replaced with LED technology as part of ongoing efforts toward sustainable energy use.
The government stated its continued commitment to providing quality electricity service and modern public lighting while supporting citizen security and economic revitalization in Milagro.
