The latest version of the Hoka Mach X, a well-known super trainer in the running shoe market, has been reviewed by the Marathon Sports team. The Mach X 3 is positioned as an up-tempo plated daily trainer with a price tag of $189.95 for both men’s and women’s models.

According to Marathon Sports, the review process included testing the shoes on various types of runs, including long distances, speed workouts, and daily mileage. The team evaluated key features such as comfort, durability, and performance compared to previous versions and other popular trainers.

The Mach X 3 introduces several updates from its predecessor. Notable changes include a dual-layer midsole made from PEBA and EVA foam for enhanced cushioning and energy return. The embedded Pebax plate is designed to provide stability and additional propulsion during uptempo efforts. A new upper construction with breathable woven material and a padded heel collar aims to address earlier concerns about discomfort.

The stack height stands at 44/39 mm for men’s shoes and 42/38 mm for women’s, with respective heel-to-toe drops of 5mm and 4mm. Weight is listed at 10.2 oz for men’s shoes and 8.6 oz for women’s.

Marathon Sports highlighted that “the sheer amount of cushioning isn’t the only feature working to deliver a soft and energetic ride,” noting that the combination of materials in the midsole delivers both comfort and responsiveness.

Regarding durability, the review notes improvements such as a compression-molded rubber outsole intended to increase grip and lifespan while protecting the midsole foam from early wear.

When comparing with similar products like the Saucony Endorphin Speed 5 and Asics Megablast, Marathon Sports pointed out differences in weight, stack height, versatility, price point, and overall value.

In terms of drawbacks, some testers found that while extra padding improved comfort in the upper part of the shoe, it also added weight compared to previous versions. Others noted that runners who prefer very soft landings might find this model too firm during longer runs.

Marathon Sports concluded: “Whether you’re searching for your next all-around trainer or race day shoe, the Hoka Mach X 3 has plenty of features that every runner will appreciate.” They encouraged customers to visit their stores to try out the Right Fit process before making a purchase decision.
