Students from 17 technical high schools in Machala presented a range of projects at the fifth Technical High School Project Fair, “Student Entrepreneurs 2025.” The event took place during the World Banana Fair and featured initiatives such as household products made from recycled materials, banana by-products, asexual propagation techniques, bioferments for agricultural transformation, educational robotics, healthy snacks, and a smart cane for people with visual disabilities.
The fair aimed to showcase practical solutions to local challenges. Favio Villamizar Sánchez, zonal coordinator 7 of the Ministry of Education, Sports and Culture, said: “In this space we see the talent, creativity and capacity for innovation of students who, with effort and dedication, present projects that are the result of their learning and a clear vision for the future.”
The projects related to various professional fields including Automotive Electromechanics, IT Support, Accounting, Food Product Industrialization, Electricity, Sustainable Agricultural Production, Metalworking and Construction Machinery, Hotel Services as well as Marketing and Sales.
Villamizar Sánchez added: “Technical high school not only provides academic knowledge but also opens doors to job opportunities and encourages entrepreneurship. These fairs allow theory to become practice and ideas to turn into real solutions for society.”
Dolores Mogrovejo, coordinator of the Technical High School Network in Machala District stated: “The young people have demonstrated ability, commitment and innovation with proposals that respond to the needs of their environment.”
Through these efforts, the Ministry of Education, Sports and Culture reiterated its commitment to support youth potential by promoting technical education that contributes to national productive and social development.
