The LUDOCCA Guide was presented on January 14 at the Museo Antropológico y de Arte Contemporáneo (MAAC) in Guayaquil. The guide is an initiative developed by Unidos por la Educación (UxE) with support from the Ministry of Education, Sports and Culture (MINEDEC).

The LUDOCCA Guide aims to strengthen the skills and abilities of teachers and reading mediators. It is a pedagogical tool designed to enhance reading mediation in the country’s ludobibliotecas, combining reading with play, art, and the exercise of cultural rights for children.

According to organizers, “This guide is a tangible result of implementing the National Policy for Reading Promotion, Orality, and Access to Books. Together with MINEDEC’s Reading Animation Guide, it strengthens pedagogical practice and contributes to advancing public policies in education and culture.”

The development of this guide was made possible through a 150% tax incentive promoted by the Vice Ministry of Culture and Heritage. Funding came from Corporación El Rosado.

The guide is structured around three main axes: connecting mediators with children and youth in ludobiblioteca spaces; establishing legal frameworks, educational principles, and public policies supporting the right to read; and defining the role of reading mediators while providing strategies, planning tools, and evaluation mechanisms.

It also offers practical activities, methodological guidance, and pedagogical guidelines based on disciplinary and socio-emotional approaches that encourage participation, respect, and collective learning.

Organizers state that “tools like this demonstrate coordinated work between public and private entities to promote reading as a fundamental right” while contributing to inclusive educational spaces across Ecuador.
