The Teodoro Gómez de la Torre Educational Unit in Imbabura hosted the Curricular Strengthening Workshop on November 18, 2025. The event, which will conclude on November 19, brings together teachers and education authorities from the three Education Districts of Imbabura. Its goal is to enhance pedagogical skills in public, private, and faith-based schools across the province.

This training is part of the National Strategy for Curricular Strengthening and Renewal. It aims to help approximately 400 participants move toward implementing a National Competency-Based Curriculum. The sessions cover key areas such as civic education, ethics and integrity, socioemotional learning, financial literacy, sustainable development education, and road safety and sustainable mobility.

“Now teachers can put into practice the implementation of this curriculum through their planning. I thank the Ministry of Education and Zonal Coordination 1 for organizing these trainings that allow us to update ourselves and provide quality education,” said Jorge Flores, vice principal of Unidad Educativa 17 de Julio.

The Ministry of Education, Sport and Culture is promoting tools for applying a prioritized curriculum based on socioemotional, mathematical, communication, and digital competencies. This effort aims to strengthen educational quality at all levels: Early Childhood Education, General Basic Education, and Baccalaureate.
