The Ministry of Public Health announced on March 27 that two new health brigades have provided medical services to more than 90 residents in the remote communities of Musap and Karakam. The deployment of these teams was carried out under the direction of Vice President María José Pinto.
The initiative aims to address the healthcare needs of vulnerable populations living in areas with limited access to medical facilities. According to the ministry, community leaders played a key role in coordinating these visits and supporting efforts to deliver health services.
During their visit, the health teams attended to 61 people in Musap and 32 in Karakam. Services included general medicine, dentistry, obstetrics, screenings, vaccinations from the regular immunization schedule, and free medication distribution. The ministry said priority was given to children and adults presenting respiratory symptoms.
In addition to clinical care, educational talks were held on topics such as safe water consumption, mental health awareness, patients’ rights within healthcare systems, disease prevention strategies, and information about contraceptive methods.
The Ministry of Public Health stated it will continue working within local territories and promoting inter-institutional cooperation. The support provided by GAD Cantonal de Taisha for arranging transportation into and out of Taisha canton was described as essential for reaching those most in need.
