The government, through the Ministry of Public Health, announced on March 31 that it continues to provide medical care and specific treatment for a child from the Saapapentsa community who was admitted on March 23 to Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital in Cuenca. The patient was diagnosed with severe pneumonia, septic shock, and acute respiratory distress syndrome. His condition is now improving.
The hospital is offering comprehensive medical attention to children from Taisha canton and support services for their families through its social work department.
The hospital’s social work area is also arranging accommodation for family members so they can rest and receive guidance during their stay. This includes food provision and translation assistance if needed. If further needs arise, additional support from social aid organizations will be sought.
Hospital staff say they are working to meet basic needs for patients’ families during their stay in Cuenca as they face unfamiliar surroundings and challenging circumstances.
