The government announced on March 25 new investments in housing and road infrastructure for the province of Napo. These initiatives are aimed at improving living conditions and strengthening connectivity in the Amazon region.
The Ministry of Transport and Public Works, led by Roberto Luque, inspected land designated for the construction of 140 social interest homes in Archidona. The project has an investment of USD 3.6 million and is intended to help more families access safe and adequate housing as part of a national policy focused on vulnerable populations.
In terms of road improvements, Luque reviewed progress along the E45 Baeza-Narupa-Coca corridor, a strategic intervention with more than USD 30 million invested so far. According to the ministry, work has already been completed on 115 kilometers under a performance-based maintenance model. The upgrades include new asphalt layers, horizontal and vertical signage across all 182 kilometers of the route, as well as addressing critical points to ensure safer travel.
Additional supervision took place at key sites such as Virgen de Guacamayos and Laureles on the Baeza-Papallacta road, where technical solutions are being implemented for slope stabilization and full restoration of the roadway surface.
As part of this agenda, officials delivered maintenance works for the viaduct over the Napo River along route E45. This project involved an investment of USD 639 thousand to improve mobility between Tena and Carlos Julio Arosemena Tola. Authorities say it will benefit more than 100,000 residents while boosting local economic activity.
Further activities included overseeing groundbreaking for improvements to the Pivichikta–San Antonio de Chaca Rumi–San Clemente–Kashayacu–Kurimuyo–San Diego road segment with an investment of USD 2.3 million—expected to benefit over 33,000 people by supporting regional integration, tourism development, and commerce.
Officials say these actions reaffirm their commitment to developing Ecuador’s Amazon region through social investment in housing projects alongside ongoing infrastructure works that connect communities.
