Authorities in Zone 2 have conducted a technical inspection on the San Carlos road section, which borders the province of Sucumbíos. The goal was to assess the condition of provisional routes and several strategic structures important for mobility in the area.

Subsecretary Yésica Aigaje, along with technical teams and representatives from Celec and OCP, reviewed the Bailey bridges Piedra Fina 2 and Marker. Their objective was to create a plan that would enable timely intervention and maintenance actions.

During their visit, they found it necessary to reinforce key structural elements such as bases, beams, plates, and anchors. This is aimed at ensuring user safety and maintaining continuous transit on this vital road axis. The bridges are 36 meters and 45 meters long, respectively.

Bridge specialist Fredy Moreira noted that heavy vehicle traffic leads to wear on components like bolts and slabs. He said periodic maintenance is essential to prevent early deterioration of these structures.

Carlos Chávez, a driver from Cooperativa Baños, commented on the significance of these measures: “Preventive maintenance is fundamental for ensuring safe and permanent transit.”

The technical presence in the field reaffirms the government’s commitment to act responsibly and with planning. The focus remains on solutions that strengthen road infrastructure and benefit those who use this route daily.
