The Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Roberto Luque, and the Deputy Minister of Housing, Daniel Elmir, visited the Vivah housing project in Tumbaco, La Morita neighborhood, northeast of Quito. The initiative is part of the Tu Casa Miti-Miti program, a key housing policy promoted by President Daniel Noboa’s government.
Vivah plans to build 170 homes on a total area of 16,944 square meters. Of these, 63 units are available for first-time homebuyers through the Miti-Miti credit scheme managed by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport (MIT). The homes have three bedrooms and are situated in a planned environment with over 6,000 square meters of green areas, recreational spaces, communal gardens, covered areas, playgrounds, coworking spaces, gymnasium, swimming pool, multipurpose courts, orchards, and walkways. The development follows sustainable construction standards.
The total investment in the project is USD 15.3 million. This funding has created about 850 direct and indirect jobs and contributed to local economic activity.
During the visit, Minister Roberto Luque highlighted the social impact of the program and emphasized collaboration between public and private sectors. “Con el programa Tu Casa Miti-Miti demostramos que, cuando el Estado y el sector privado trabajan de manera coordinada, es posible reducir el déficit habitacional y garantizar a más familias el acceso a una vivienda digna, segura y con condiciones justas de financiamiento,” he said.
In Pichincha province under this program there are currently 418 projects involving 5,583 homes and 2,289 mortgage placements for social interest and public interest housing. This reflects steady progress in implementing this policy locally.
Nationwide, the Miti-Miti program has delivered 7,271 homes to Ecuadorian families with state support totaling USD 138 million. The government aims to reach its goal of providing 200,000 housing solutions.
A beneficiary from Vivah project, Génesis Pozo shared her experience: “Gracias a este programa hoy podemos cumplir el sueño de tener casa propia. Es una oportunidad que cambia la vida de nuestras familias y nos brinda estabilidad y esperanza.”
Through initiatives like Vivah and other projects listed at https://www.mit.gob.ec/miti-miti/, the national government seeks to make decent housing accessible while fostering public-private partnerships that generate employment and improve living conditions for thousands across Ecuador.
