The National Government, through the Ministry of Environment and Energy and the Corporación Nacional de Electricidad (CNEL), has expanded electricity service coverage to 344 families in the provinces of Esmeraldas, Pichincha, Manabí, and Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas.
Work was carried out in the cantons of La Concordia, Quinindé, El Carmen, and Puerto Quito. A total of 20 projects extended electrical networks in both urban and rural areas. The efforts included installing 151 poles, 344 meters, 30 transformers, 29 streetlights, and laying 33 kilometers of medium- and low-voltage lines.
This expansion aims to provide a safe and continuous electricity supply while addressing long-standing gaps in access. The investment for these projects exceeded USD 324,000. The improvements are intended to strengthen modern electrical infrastructure that supports social and economic development in these regions.
Ángel Erazo, general manager of CNEL EP, stated: “These works allow communities to be integrated into the national electricity system, guaranteeing safety and quality standards in the service.”
Inés Manzano, Minister of Environment and Energy, said: “Electricity is a fundamental axis for the social and economic development of territories.”
These initiatives are part of President Daniel Noboa’s administration strategy to prioritize expanding electricity coverage and strengthening public services as key elements for territorial equity and sustainable national development.
