Government delivers renovated school facilities benefiting over 600 students in Simón Bolívar

The Ministry of Education, Sport and Culture of Ecuador has officially delivered the renovated facilities of the “Trece de Octubre” Educational Institution in Lorenzo de Garaicoa parish, Simón Bolívar canton. The event was attended by Gilda Alcívar García, Minister of Education, Sport and Culture, along with local authorities, students, teachers, and parents.

The renovation project required an investment of USD 257,414 and directly benefits over 600 students. The work included installing a new roof, maintaining the metal structure, replacing doors, building perimeter fencing, laying ceramic tiles in classrooms, improving sports fields, adapting green areas, rehabilitating the auditorium, replacing wiring and electrical installations, renewing sanitary facilities, and painting the entire institutional infrastructure.

Minister Gilda Alcívar García emphasized the importance of providing safe and functional educational spaces. “Desde el Ministerio de Educación impulsamos procesos técnicos destinados a la conservación, rehabilitación y mejoramiento integral de la infraestructura educativa, con el objetivo de garantizar espacios seguros, funcionales y adecuados que fortalezcan los procesos de enseñanza–aprendizaje y contribuyan al desarrollo integral de nuestros estudiantes,” she said.

This initiative is part of the government’s broader policy to reduce disparities in education and strengthen opportunities for children and youth across Ecuador. The delivery reaffirms the government’s commitment to efficient public resource management and to making public education a key element for national development.
