The rural parish of Cangahua in the Cayambe canton, Pichincha province, will receive $1.47 million to restore greenhouses and flower plantations damaged by heavy rains on October 14, 2025. The funding comes from an inter-institutional cooperation agreement signed by the Ministry of Environment and Energy (MAE), through the Corporación Eléctrica del Ecuador (CELEC EP), and the local parish government.
The agreement was formalized at a public event attended by over 1,000 residents from 14 communities in Cangahua. Present at the signing were Antonio Jácome Pólit, general manager of CELEC EP; Edwin Pilca, president of the Cangahua Parish Government; and Inés María Manzano, Minister of Environment and Energy, who participated as an honorary witness.
Minister Manzano emphasized the significance of collaboration between communities and the national government. “This management reflects the new face of public service and a Government that listens, coordinates, and works hand in hand with communities. Cayambe reminds us that resilience is born from joint work, technical knowledge, cooperation, and above all, hope,” she said.
Antonio Jácome Pólit added: “In the Government of El Nuevo Ecuador we work thinking first about the well-being of Ecuadorian families, promoting projects that strengthen agricultural and productive development, especially in territories where people live by effort, unity, and love for their land.”
The initiative is part of CELEC EP’s Community Relations Plan under its Environmental Management Plan for the Pomasqui–Jamondino I Transmission Line (230 kV), which strengthens energy connections between Ecuador and Colombia.
The MAE and CELEC EP stated that this collaboration reaffirms their commitment to sustainable development in areas influenced by power generation plants and transmission systems. The action aligns with government policies aimed at supporting these regions.
