The Ministry of Education, Sports and Culture (MINEDEC) has entered into a cooperation agreement with the National Telecommunications Corporation CNT EP, an entity under the Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Society (MINTEL). The agreement aims to support the digital ID card strategy and enhance recognition for teachers and administrative staff in Ecuador’s public education system.

Under this partnership, CNT EP will provide exclusive benefits on mobile phone services according to the terms set out in each plan. These incentives are direct benefits from the public company and do not involve state funding.

The initiative is expected to benefit 183,253 employees, including both teachers and administrative personnel. The goal is to offer non-monetary incentives that improve well-being and strengthen social recognition for educational sector workers.

The agreement is valid for two years with an option for renewal. With this collaboration, CNT EP becomes the 58th strategic partner at the national level as part of MINEDEC’s policy to value educational professionals.

According to the ministry, “With this action, the National Government, led by President Daniel Noboa Azín, reaffirms its commitment to the revaluation of the teaching career, institutional strengthening and the promotion of benefits that contribute to improving the quality of life of those who are part of the country’s public education system.”
