Ecuador reported a monthly inflation rate of -0.44% for November 2025, marking a notable decrease that officials say will provide relief to households across the country. The annual inflation rate stood at 1.05%, lower than the 1.51% recorded in November of the previous year.
The Ministry of Economy and Finance attributed the decline in monthly inflation to three main consumption categories: food and non-alcoholic beverages, housing-related costs, and clothing and footwear. Prices for key food items such as lemons, onions, carrots, and potatoes fell significantly during the month. Electricity costs also dropped by over 7%, while prices for items like pants, underwear, and sports shoes saw reductions.
According to official data, nearly two-thirds of the foods in Ecuador’s basic basket showed negative monthly price changes in November. Eggs, potatoes, and sugar were among the products with notable declines.
Major cities including Ambato, Loja, Cuenca, Quito, and Guayaquil all registered decreases in their local inflation rates. This trend indicates that falling prices have had an impact nationwide.
“The reduction of inflation in November is a good news for the country. It reflects that we are taking care of families’ finances and creating conditions so that income goes further. Our commitment is to continue promoting policies that bring peace of mind to households and strengthen the national economy,” stated officials from the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
