The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) has approved a $250 million guarantee for Ecuador’s MITI-MITI housing program, allowing the country to secure total financing of $500 million for the initiative. This funding includes $250 million from the IDB and another $250 million from the Ecuadorian government.

Previously, the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF) granted $102 million to support MITI-MITI. With these contributions, total resources available for the program now reach $602 million, marking it as the largest investment in social housing in Ecuador’s history.

The IDB highlighted “the efficient and transparent management of Minister Roberto Luque” and recognized Ecuador as a regional example in responsible implementation of public resource programs. According to the IDB, this positions Ecuador as a reference point for transparency and effective use of funds in similar initiatives.

“With this approval, Minister Roberto Luque is consolidated as the minister who has secured the most resources for housing in all of Ecuador’s history,” stated officials involved with MITI-MITI. The current administration reports that its efforts have tripled previous investments in social housing and are expected to deliver thousands of new homes across the country.

MITI-MITI operates through a trust fund model designed to increase access to affordable housing, stimulate economic activity, create jobs, and reduce Ecuador’s housing deficit. These efforts align with President Daniel Noboa’s vision for delivering tangible results to citizens through transparent governance.

Officials at MIT reaffirmed their commitment “to continue working with efficiency, technical discipline and results to transform the lives of Ecuadorian families.”
