Ecuador’s delegation concluded its participation in the XXIX South American School Games in Asunción 2025 with a total of 21 medals across judo, beach volleyball, table tennis, and chess. The event took place from November 30 to December 7 in Paraguay’s capital and included school delegations from across the region.
The Ministry of Education, Sport, and Culture allocated more than USD 221,000 for this participation. The funding was used to ensure optimal conditions for transportation, logistics, equipment, and support for the student athletes. This investment is part of a national government policy aimed at strengthening sports as a tool for comprehensive education.
Ecuador’s medal tally included six golds, seven silvers, and eight bronzes. The national contingent consisted of 86 members: 67 athletes, 12 coaches, and seven delegation officials. Ecuadorian representatives competed in chess, women’s basketball (5×5), men’s and women’s futsal, women’s swimming, table tennis, judo, beach volleyball, and indoor volleyball.
“The National Government led by President Daniel Noboa reaffirms its commitment to promoting sports by building a solid foundation of future talents with prospects for international competitions and the Olympic cycle,” according to an official statement.
