The Superintendencia de Compañías, Valores y Seguros of Ecuador took part in the international event “Development of Markets and Collaboration with FIAB” in Panama City, according to a March 13 announcement. The event aimed to exchange experiences and analyze strategies to strengthen the development of the securities sector across the region.

Superintendent Luis Cabezas-Klaere and Carlos Julio Arosemena Durán, national superintendent for the Securities Market, attended the meeting organized by the Instituto Iberoamericano de Mercados de Valores (IIMV) in coordination with Panama’s supervisory authority.

The gathering brought together directors and technical leaders from regulatory and oversight bodies throughout Ibero-America. Key topics included international cooperation, capital market integration, simplification of registration procedures, regulation and supervision processes, as well as challenges related to cybersecurity and operational resilience within financial systems.

Participants also discussed financial innovation, digital assets, asset tokenization, and the promotion of new financing and investment products—issues that are currently shaping regulatory agendas internationally.

Luis Cabezas-Klaere said that such forums are valuable because they allow participants to learn about other countries’ experiences and best regulatory practices while strengthening knowledge exchange and cooperation among supervisory authorities in the region.
