The government of Ecuador organized a health outreach event in Pinllo parish, Ambato canton, as part of its efforts to improve access to healthcare services. The initiative, called “Brigadas Sociales Integrales,” was led by Vice President María José Pinto and aimed to reduce barriers for citizens seeking medical care and administrative services.
During the event, which took place at the central plaza of Pinllo in the Angamarquillo sector, more than 400 people received direct assistance. The Ministry of Public Health (MSP) coordinated technical and human resources to provide a range of medical services focused on prevention and comprehensive care.
Services offered included general and family medicine, nutrition counseling, mobile dental care, HIV testing (33 tests conducted), blood pressure checks (65), and syphilis screening (25). Immunization efforts resulted in 93 vaccines administered for influenza (both adult and pediatric), COVID-19, chickenpox, and other diseases. Additionally, 68 individuals received care through ancestral medicine practices.
Support for vulnerable groups was also provided. Thirteen patients were identified for disability assessment and prescription services. Information about the qualification process was given to 32 people, and technical aids such as diapers were distributed to those in need.
Omar Torres, Undersecretary of Integrated Primary Care Networks at MSP, stated during the event: “El MSP está ofreciendo sus servicios en medicina general, medicina familiar, paquete priorizado, vacunación, medicina ancestral, entre otros” (“The MSP is offering its services in general medicine, family medicine, prioritized package [of services], vaccination, ancestral medicine, among others”).
The government emphasized that health and social well-being are rights it seeks to bring closer to communities across Ecuador.
