The Ministry of Education, Sport and Culture (MINEDEC) has announced a new round of professional development courses for teachers in 2026 through the Digital Training Center Mecapacito. This initiative is part of the National Plan for Permanent Training (PNFP) and aims to improve teaching quality by providing ongoing training opportunities.

For the upcoming period, nine training cohorts are planned. The second cohort will be open to all teachers and focuses on strengthening professional, pedagogical, didactic, digital, disciplinary, and socio-emotional skills.

Enrollment for this cohort will take place from February 5 to February 18, 2026. Courses will begin on Monday, February 23, 2026, and conclude on March 20, 2026. All courses will be conducted online through the official platform at https://mecapacito.educacion.gob.ec.

Teachers can register by selecting their appropriate category via designated links: those in public schools can use https://forms.office.com/r/gAi8R8gwx0 while those in municipal, religious-affiliated or private schools can use https://forms.office.com/r/pxmDBNHdUm.

A total of 62 courses are available across five areas: didactics (8 courses), digital skills (5), disciplinary content (3), pedagogy (17), and socio-emotional/transversal topics (29). The course offerings have been designed to address current needs within Ecuador’s education system by integrating pedagogical innovation and digital tools while supporting the well-being of educational communities.

According to MINEDEC: “With these actions, MINEDEC reaffirms its commitment to professional teacher development as a fundamental pillar to guarantee a quality, inclusive and relevant education for girls, boys and adolescents in Ecuador.”

This initiative supports continuous teacher training as an essential element for improving national education standards.
