The Ministry of Environment and Energy announced on April 2 that more than 19.3 million barrels of Ecuadorian crude oil have been transported internationally so far in 2026 through the state-owned company EP FLOPEC.
Officials say these actions are part of government strategies to strengthen Ecuador’s position in major international markets. The Ministry reported that the exported volumes include approximately 8.3 million barrels of Napo crude and about 11 million barrels of Oriente crude, shipped using Aframax, Suezmax, and Panamax vessels.
The main destinations for Ecuadorian crude are the United States, Panama, Chile, and Peru. According to forecasts from EP Petroecuador, between May and December this year there will be shipments totaling around 181 cargoes—each averaging about 360,000 barrels—which officials say demonstrates a competitive policy within the global hydrocarbons market.
Commercial data from EP FLOPEC show that during the previous year an average of sixteen vessels per month departed with over 124 million barrels transported throughout all of 2025.
The ministry stated that firm decisions in the hydrocarbons sector aim to consolidate an industry capable of supporting national development through competitive and transparent transactions.
