The Ministry of Education, Sport and Culture (MINEDEC) in Ecuador has announced the opening of the registration period for those seeking to enroll in one of the country’s 54 public technological institutes and higher conservatories. This process applies to the first academic period of 2026 for the Costa and Insular regions.

Registration is mandatory for students who have completed the National Registry. It is also open to individuals looking for a tertiary education option with strong professional prospects. The registration window will be available from December 18 to December 22, and applicants must register through www.registrounicoedusup.gob.ec.

Technical and technological programs are designed to provide practical training, which helps graduates enter the job market more easily.

Alongside registration, there is an optional phase for completing the Social Registry. This step aims to ensure fairness in access to higher education by allowing candidates to submit their socioeconomic and demographic information. Those who complete this form may receive additional affirmative action points based on their socioeconomic status.

The Social Registry form will be accessible from December 18 until December 27. Only applicants who have not previously provided their information and have received an email notification from the Social Registry Unit (URS) by December 16 are required to fill it out.

MINEDEC also reminds prospective students interested in attending a public university or polytechnic school that each institution has its own admissions schedule and procedures, which should be checked individually.

“With these actions, President Daniel Noboa’s government guarantees transparent management and equitable access to higher education opportunities,” according to MINEDEC.
