The Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport (MIT) has launched an international tender process to acquire heavy machinery, including loaders, excavators, and dredgers. This equipment is intended to improve emergency response, road maintenance, and flood prevention on Ecuador’s national road network.

The procurement is part of the Emergency Resilient Reconstruction Project, which is funded by the World Bank. The initiative aims to strengthen the state’s operational capacity in response to extreme weather events and recurring disruptions on major roads across the country.

According to MIT, the new machinery will be used for timely interventions in critical areas, river cleaning and channeling, as well as road conservation efforts. These actions are expected to help maintain connectivity and transport continuity, especially in vulnerable regions.

The tender process will follow the Open/International market approach using a Single Stage–Two Envelope method, in line with World Bank Procurement Regulations. MIT states this will ensure transparency, competition, and global participation from specialized suppliers.

Key dates for the process include:
– Submission of bids: until December 23, 2025 at 12:00 p.m.
– Public opening of technical bids: December 23, 2025 at 12:15 p.m., at the auditorium of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport.
– Electronic submission is not enabled.

Bids should be delivered to:
Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport
Subsecretariat of Transport Infrastructure, 17th floor
Juan León Mera N26-220 y Av. Orellana, Quito – Ecuador
