The Ecuadorian government, under President Daniel Noboa, has allocated over $221,000 to support the country’s participation in the 29th South American School Games. The event is scheduled to take place from November 30 to December 7, 2025, in Asunción, Paraguay.

According to the Ministry of Education, Sports and Culture, the funding will ensure a safe and dignified experience for the Ecuadorian delegation at the games. The group will include 86 members: 67 athletes competing in eight sports disciplines, along with 12 coaches and seven delegation officials. The sports represented are chess (male and female), basketball 5×5 (female), futsal (male and female), swimming (female), table tennis (male and female), judo (male and female), beach volleyball (male and female), and indoor volleyball (male and female).

“Each athlete represents with pride their families, their educational communities, and a country that recognizes their effort, dedication, and spirit of improvement,” said a statement from the Ministry.

In last year’s edition of the event held in Bucaramanga in 2024, Ecuador won a total of 29 medals through the efforts of 102 athletes: five golds, twelve silvers, and twelve bronzes. Notable performers included Mateus Méndez—triple South American athletics champion—Narcisa Medina—javelin throw champion—and the women’s doubles table tennis team who secured first place.

“The Ecuadorian delegation travels with the goal of surpassing the 29 medals obtained in 2024. Beyond results, this participation represents an opportunity to strengthen values, promote camaraderie and live a formative experience that will contribute to both personal and athletic development for young people,” stated officials from the Ministry.
