The Ecuadorian government, through the Ministry of Public Health, delivered 44 technical aids to people with disabilities in the cantons of Chambo and Riobamba on April 13. The initiative aims to support the well-being and dignity of priority groups in these areas.

The delivery is part of the Project for Strengthening Comprehensive Care for People with Disabilities, which includes a targeted investment intended to improve the quality of life for families facing vulnerability. Under the leadership of Vice President María José Pinto, the Ministry is advancing public policies that promote rights and development opportunities for people with disabilities across various sectors.

As part of this effort, four health facilities have been established in Chimborazo province. These centers are staffed by multidisciplinary teams—including doctors, psychologists, and social workers—who specialize in evaluation processes and comprehensive care for individuals with disabilities.

“This effort seeks to make diversity visible and valued, promoting a more inclusive society where equal opportunities become a reality for all residents of our province,” said Verónica Guerrero, Provincial Health Director of Chimborazo.

For many beneficiary families, receiving these technical aids brings direct economic relief as well as essential support in daily caregiving tasks. Angélica López, mother to a child with physical and intellectual disabilities in Chambo, said: “I want to thank the Government led by President Daniel Noboa and health personnel. For some people this supply may seem simple but for those who care for a family member with a disability it represents an enormous blessing and vital support.”

The Ministry reminds citizens that access to qualification services or receipt of technical aids requires calling 171 (option 4) and presenting supporting documentation from specialists within either the Ministry or Ecuador’s Public Integrated Health Network.

These actions reaffirm the government’s commitment to protecting disability rights while working toward full integration into political, social, and economic life.
